Sassy performer Candye Kane comes to The Yale on Thursday, March 18 for what promises to be a night of extraordinary entertainment. The Los Angeles native exemplifies showbiz star quality with a performance that blends superb vocals with a theatrical twist. Kane's cabaret style spectacles that appeal to the more eclectic crowd have been described as sexy, magnetic and witty.
The former cancer survivor, who now represents a voice for women, has lived a life of the blues. Drawing on personal experience and hardships, Kane honors women legends of the past with both feet firmly planted in the present. Decked out in feathers, sequins and rhinestones, the music diva belts, growls and moans lyrics that inspire listeners to celebrate individuality and the pursuit of personal dreams.
Kane's bluesy; country and rockabilly style has landed her an array of performance spots with celebrities such as B.B. King, Dwight Yoakum, Cyndi Lauper, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Her music has been featured on many films and television shows including The Chris Isaak Show, Queer As Folk and Heavy starring Deborah Harry. Kane has performed internationally for presidents and movie stars and has been nominated for a 2010 National Blues Foundation award in three categories including B.B. KING ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR, CONTEMPORARY BLUES FEMALE and CONTEMPORARY BLUES ALBUM.
Her tenth CD SUPERHERO with Delta Groove Records released in June 2009 features guest performances by Kid Ramos, Dave Gonzales and Mitch Kashmar. This newest recording effort is chock full of songs of triumph and empowerment that have made Kane a favorite with enlightened congregations everywhere. This performance is presented by Shore 104.3 FM. Yale VIP Passes not accepted.
